Scott + Phoebe: A Soft, Simple, Beautiful Kind of Love

Married in Mermaid Waters, Gold Coast

I met these two through a mutual friend in the Muay Thai community. Scotty’s a fighter — a very humble gentleman — and Phoebe is this tiny, passionate beauty, absolutely smitten with her man.

We actually first met during their engagement shoot at the French Quarter in Emerald Lakes, Gold Coast — and holy shit, it was amazing. From the get-go, they posed effortlessly. They even brought their little dog, who quickly became my assistant for the day. It was such a fun shoot, and I knew then their wedding photos would be next-level.

Wedding Day

It was an early start (for a change), a few coffees, and a short 7-minute drive down the road. I arrived at the apartment, and Phoebe was already in her dress — looking absolutely stunning. Her mum and sister were there too — both a great help. Mum was full of energy and loved being in front of the camera. House of Zens did an incredible job on the hair — top-notch.

Scotty showed up with his most trusted mate. These boys were actually on a flight to Thailand for a fight camp when Scott and Phoebe first met — the beauty of Muay Thai!

We knocked out a few photos with the boys, then headed back up for the first look. Oh man, there were tears — the happy kind. You could just see how much they love each other.

Bridal Party + Private Vows

Before the ceremony, we went out to grab some bridal party pics — again, stunning and completely effortless. Then Scott and Phoebe shared their private vows on a balcony overlooking the Gold Coast. It’s moments like this — standing a few metres away, filming two people pouring their hearts out — that really hit the soul.

The Ceremony

Guests came from all over — Malaysia, South Korea, and across Australia — but Scott and Phoebe wanted something simple and meaningful. The family pulled together to create something truly beautiful.

The ceremony was short and sweet, followed by a tea ceremony where they changed into their traditional attire — and looked incredible. After a ton of family photos, everyone helped pack up — such a solid, supportive community of people.

The Reception

Hard FIZZ Taproom, BurleighThe reception was held at Hard FIZZ Taproom in beautiful Burleigh — a vibrant spot where everyone came together to eat, drink, and celebrate late into the night.

I made sure to capture photos of every guest, and even managed a big group shot by climbing up on the bar (shoutout to my vertically-challenged self 😅). I used to find group shots a bit terrifying, but honestly — a little humour goes a long way.

Happily Ever After

Scott and Phoebe are made for each other. Their connection, the laughs, the way they care — it’s all there. I honestly hope I get to shoot maternity and family sessions for them in the future. And no doubt, Scotty will have those kids doing Muay Thai in no time!
