Adam + Bronte – A Country Wedding in South Gundirumba, NSW
Just to the south of Lismore, NSW, lies the quiet little farming community of South Gundirumba — home to eight generations of the Adams family. And it’s on this very property, up on a hill beneath a beautiful old fig tree, Adam proposed… and about 200 meters away, married the love of his life.
The Drive In
I love a good road trip — as you’ve probably noticed — and the scenic drive down to Lismore didn’t disappoint. It gave me time to reset, breathe, and get into the headspace of documenting something truly special. I arrived calm, camera in hand, and ready to capture memories for Adam, Bronte, and everyone involved.
Meeting the Couple
Adam met me upon arrival, just before he jetted off to prep with the boys. He’s this tall country gentleman with a bloody big heart — the kind you can spot a mile away.
Bronte, meanwhile, was in the middle of getting her makeup done by the incredibly talented Nicky. She’s not just great at her job — she can also hold a solid convo and takes a great photo herself. Bronte had such a chilled, down-to-earth vibe. Her dress was simple and elegant, and she absolutely rocked the cowgirl boots and unique bouquets.
The boys? Characters, every one of them — looking their best with a beer in hand and smiles across their faces.
The Ceremony
What a setting. Hay bales for seats. A signature fig tree as the altar. Scenic views in every direction. And yes — Bronte rode in on a horse. It doesn’t get more Aussie country than that, and I was here for it.
Dot, the celebrant, did a wonderful job. I cheekily asked if she’d jump in on the first kiss. She giggled and kindly declined — fair call, Dot. Could’ve gotten awkward.
Adam and Bronte’s vows were from the heart. Might’ve been some tears in the crowd — or maybe just sun in the eyes. The two nannas doing readings? That hit hard. Meant the world to the couple and everyone there.
After the ceremony, we headed to the shade to finish up the formalities. We knocked out a big group shot and some family pics, then I gave the couple a chance to chill and breathe. Super important in the heat — you never want to push or burn out your couple!
Bridal Party Fun
The bridal party shoot was relaxed and full of laughs. Prue, the Maid of Honour, had me cracking up — great sense of humour. I loved the girls going barefoot, just being themselves.
The boys brought the fun, so I gave them a few cheeky shots to match. I always aim for a nice mix: posed, candid, silly — it gives the gallery character.
Once we wrapped, I set the crew free to grab a drink and enjoy the vibe. Let’s be honest — being ridiculously good-looking all day is hard work.
Couple Portraits
Bronte and Adam have a noticeable height difference, which I loved working with. It meant getting creative with poses, walking shots, and using the landscape to our advantage. Honestly, it was a blast.
I always show my couples a few previews along the way — it gives them a confidence boost and lets them see the magic we’re making in real time.
The Reception at South Gundirumba Hall
The reception was held at the charming South Gundirumba Hall — small, intimate, and full of heart. Fairy lights floated through the air, fires were burning outside, and the beers were flowing.
Inside, three long tables were set for the guests, with the bridal table up by the stage. The people were warm, kind, and welcoming — classic country folk. Loved every minute of it.
Speeches + Memories
The speeches were deep and meaningful. They touched on Adam and Bronte’s experience during the devastating floods a few years back — a real reflection of their strength.
One story stood out: apparently Adam called his mum just a week into uni to tell her, “I’ve met the one.” Yeah — cue the tears.
There was also a story about Bronte’s first car that had the whole room laughing. I love speeches for this reason. You can spend all day with a couple, but once the drinks flow and the memories come out, you learn so much more. You get a glimpse of who they really are.
Wrapping Up
After the speeches, there was a small first dance and a cake cutting to round out the night. No big production — just authentic moments.
As I drove home, headlights on full beam down the empty roads, I thought back on the day — that’s when everything sinks in for me.
Adam and Bronte are something special. They’re best friends, great at communicating, and they’ve got a kind of connection that’s rare. I hope they have a bunch of kids — they’ll be amazing parents.
And you can see why they are the way they are. I always pay attention to parents — the little traits passed down, the quiet gestures. To the families: you’ve done a bloody great job. You’ve raised some wonderful humans.
